LINDSAY CARRAWAY

LINDSAY is a self-taught artist from Vicksburg, Mississippi. She studied Industrial Design at Pratt Institute, in Brooklyn and Metals and Jewelry at SCAD in Savannah before eventually dropping out. Nearly twenty years later she has a wealth of experience in collage work.
Lindsay’s work reflects a myriad of intertwining elements that blend social, cultural, and political issues. Combined with the intricate landscapes of her dreams and visions, shaped by the lens of her schizophrenic mind. Her work brings stereotypes, controversies and a focus on the human spirit to life. It’sa cross between the worlds terrain and the abstractions of her mind.
She draws from the tapestry of her life experiences in the South, fraught with the trials of mental, sexual, and physical abuse. This is compounded by the challenges of womanhood in a society where female rights feel imperiled. She finds a wellspring of inspiration in the raw materials of honesty and truth.
Lindsay currently resides in Louisiana with her husband, Blain, and mischievous labor-doodle Ollie. She spends her days working on her collage worlds of paper and paints along with other materials, telling stories. While not making art, she is collecting things of random amusements while drinking cokes through a straw and managing to keep her cactus alive.

About the FolkArtwork Collective
Not only can you shop original work from this great artist, there’s much more where that came from! It brings me great pleasure to introduce the FolkArtwork Collective — a phenomenal group of self-taught and contemporary emerging artists from across the globe. Jackie Bradshaw, Esteban Whiteside, Sarah Lee, and Noel Hatfield are the first artists to bring original artwork directly to the FolkArtwork web store on both FolkArtwork.art/shop and directly on Instagram. I am very pleased to also add Reneesha Mccoy, Jordan Sullivan, Gabrielle K Brown, Christopher Bame, Max Kuhn, Ben Gardner and in 2024, Melody Jean Moulton, Dinah Hanson-Carrillo, Lindsay Carraway, Kathy Edwards Hayslett, Lorena Eliasen, Mike Combs, and James Ash to the collective. More artists art continuing to join in 2025 including Des Moines own Alexandre Shiffer, Lesley Miserables from London, and contemporary visionary artist Linda DiLeva.
